The Dogajolo Toscano Rosso IGT - Carpineto by Carpineto winery has scored 89 Wine Spectator points , an important reward for an atypical Tuscan red wine which qualifies as a fresh and innovative proposal within a tradition of great vintage and aging wines with an excellent price/quality ratio. Fruity and winy aromas, sided by light vanilla notes provided by the refinement, which add the possibility of aging too, confirming the great job by Carpineto.

When we talk about successful aging in wines, Fontalloro - Felsina is certainly a fitting example. The Fontalloro Fèlsina 2009 vintage, tasted last night, was a real satisfaction, not surprisingly it received high level reviews from some the field major experts such as Wine Advocate and James Suckling (93/100 for both). A pure Sangiovese that shows itself with a red that is as dark as it is intense, as are the notes of licorice, wood and vanilla on both the aromatic and tasting sides combining with aromas of berries and a slight acidic hint, underlining the still remaining longevity of the wine. The tannin is well present, but dosed to the right point, for a balanced structure that does not weigh it down excessively.

Giving yourself a bottle of BARBARESCO DOCG RISERVA PORA - Produttori del Barbaresco by Produttori del Barbaresco, a truly genuine and authentic winery concerning this specific wine, is certainly one of those decisions for which your senses will be thankful. The Barbaresco Riserva Pora is the expression od a winery, or better an agricultural Cooperative, made up of 50 members who don’t accept any compromise when we talk about Nebbiolo, and since 1958 have joined their work, knowledges and experiences to realize bottles of wine having a truly direct and unbreakable bond to the territory. An aspect that is reflected directly in the glass, where the garnet color is intense and lively, as the aromas of red fruits and spices ( licorice and black pepper ). The tannins are perfectly velvety at the palate, accompanied by a light sapidity during the clean and persistent finale together with the vanilla note given by the 36 months of refinement in barrels.

It is certainly not the first time that Kellerei Cantina Terlan has amazed our palates, but above all the ones of the most demanding sommelier in the entire World, as the countless awards and enthusiast reviews received over the years prove. Today we’d like to introduce you the Terlan (Terlano) Sauvignon Winkl, a wine endowed with an excellent quality/price ratio, which has just been awarded with 93/100 James Suckling, 92/100 Robert Parker and the inclusion in the Vini d’Italia 2020 by Gambero Rosso. Regardless of the prizes hoarding, Sauvignon Winkl Terlan has certainly conquered us too, already from the visual impact with an intense straw yellow color tending to gold, the first aroma is the typical Sauvignon tomato leaf, which is well defined but never excessive (which is not to be taken for granted at all), matched with perfumes of peach and candied fruit with a little almond shade. At the palate the perfectly balanced refinement in barrel (20%) makes the wine a full bodied, so to be able to sustain the aromatic complexity of the bouquet, already appreciated during the olfattive try, without being too heavy. To conclude an extraordinary persistent finale with a mineral note that cleans and refresh the taste.

In the Isonzo (Eastern Part of Friuli Venezia Giulia) , a few kilometers from the border with Slovenia, since XIII Century the Castello di Spessa castle raises in all of its beauty, as a witness of the history of its own land. Despite the natural property changes occurred during the centuries one thing has never changed, that is to say the surrounding area vocation to the viticulture, which is still nowadays studded with vineyards and natural landscapes, making the estate (which also hosts ceremonies, events and so on) a reality isolated from the normal passing of time. In the Merlot Friuli Isonzo DOC - Castello di Spessa we have found a wine that traces this concept, a product that remains anchored to a timeless expression of its own land due to the meeting between the northern boreal winds and the warm clime coming from the near Adriatic Sea, with the Castello di Spessa wines following great quality lines. Friulian Merlot Balsamic, red fruit under spirit and licorice notes, coordinated by a full bodied structure, almost fortified but velvety at the right level not to result invasive, assisted at best by the aromatic bouquet.

Carnaroli Rice Principato di Lucedio, Mantua Pumpkin, Cinta Senese pork guanciale and toasted Avola almonds Nama Mandorle. From the sweetness of the pumpkin to the decise taste of the guanciale, with the toasted note and crunchiness of the Avola almonds, everything starting from a super high quality Carnaroli rice as the ones by an artisan as the Principato di Lucedio.

The 2019 awards space for Carpineto is back, and now it’s up to Farnito Cabernet Sauvignon IGT - Carpineto, a Cabernet Sauvignon rewarded with 90 points Wine Enthusiast 2019 and 90 points in the Gilbert and Gallard International Challenge 2019, it is the only wine of the winery produced entirely with grapes from an international wine variety. In the Farnito case the company leitmotiv “great wines of Tuscany” has a different interpretation, indeed differently from the other bottles where typical Tuscan wine varieties and denominations are involved, here the focus is on the Tuscan interpretation of an International wine variety. The result is a strong ruby red clolour, the main aromas are very mature fruits but above all spices and licorice. Very energetic and full bodied with pleasant notes of wood and vanilla with a great final persistence.

If you are fond of Lugana, one of the Garda wines par excellence, our suggestion is trying the Lugana D.O.P. Prestige - Cà Maiol, a bottle which is moreover endowed with a great value for the price. Its color is straw yellow with golden shades as a good pure Turbiana wine, the aromas are tropical fruit, in particular pineapple, citrus and honey. At the palate it is pretty full bodied for a white wine, while the mineral finale helps reaching a great balance for the Lugana Ca' Maiol

Leone de Castris was born in 1665, during a period when revolutions both on the political and scientific sides took place, a winery which have literally seen and participated to historical changes for more than three centuries. On its part it has been the first winery to sell a rosé wine in 1943, whose name, on the alley’s army request, has been anglicized in “Five Roses”, a signature that has directly acquired a place in the Italian and international enology history. Through the centuries, production has been searching for innovation, new challenges, but at the same time keeping on giving space to those which are the original tastes of the land that hosts the winery. In this sense the 50° VENDEMMIA - Salice Salentino Doc Riserva - Leone De Castris is emblematic, both in the name and the content (100% Negroamaro), awarded with three glasses gambero rosso for the 2014 vintage available in our catalogue. A lively red ruby colour, with fruity aromas at first than turning to spices (licorice in particular). A the palate it is soft, velvety and well balanced, with mainly spiced notes tending to vanilla due to the oak barrels refinement, with a lightly sapid finale cleaning the mouth.

Simple but tasty, the risotto of the day is gorgonzola dop, Trentino Speck Cavalier Umberto Boschi and Pistacchi Sgusciati Sicilia - Nama Mandorle directly from the Etna slopes. The leitmotiv is the same: high quality ingredients, even without particular cooking processes, can lead to a good level final result. Starting from the basis with Acquerello rice carnaroli, the ideal for risotto, the softness of the gorgonzola is paired perfectly with the decise and sapid taste of speck, finally the characteristic intense taste of the green gold of Sicily to close the recipe.

If you’re searching for rare interesting price performance wines, adding Morellino di Scansano DOCG Bellamarsilia - PoggioargentierA will give you great satisfactions. A Prestigious denomination as Morellino di Scansano together with the seriousness and commitment of the company guarantee great results, which have been spontaneously followed by many awards. Two Glasses by Gambero Rosso, 91/100 James Suckling, these are only few of the great reviews obtained, the result of a work towards the research of the best expression of a high value territory, with which, despite the relatively young age, PoggioargentierA winery has immediately searched (and found) great harmony. Bellamarsilia presents itself with an intense dark red color, the aromas are cherries and delicately balsamic. At the palate instead acidity balances pleasantly the intensity of the fruit note, with a velvety tannin sensation and a remarkable final persistence.

Moving the tastes of a traditional recipe to another dish reinterpreting them is a winning strategy. As it is for the risotto Acquerello - Carnaroli Rice with the aubergines parmigiana flavours, where the tomato sauce turns into confit Pachino cherry tomatoes, the aubergines are smoked and then cooked quickly in a pan with a little drizzle of evo oil. The fiordilatte mozzarella (or buffalo mozzarella if you prefer) is blended adding a little of milk becoming a cream used at the end to cream the risotto, while for the –basil a simple emulsion by blanching it, then in water and ice and finally blending it with evo oil and a little water.

Great wines for special occasions, this time we’re talking about Sassicaia, a wine that doesn't need further presentations. Already consolidated among the Olympus of the best red wines of the world, some skeptics could, legitimately, doubt concerning a gap between the expectations and the real quality of the bottle. From our point of view we can certainly confirm that this is an absolute high quality Tuscan wine, and its tasting is a unique sensory experience which is totally worth the price, we’re specifically describing you the Sassicaia - Tenuta San Guido 2012. It is right from the color that you can realize the intensity of this wine: a grenade red that almost encroaches to black, wild berries, pleasant balsamic with a light alcoholic background. At the palate extremely velvety, almost silky, the perfumes strikes back in the mouth with an added barrique note in a completive balance and harmony, an incredibly persistent finale leaves a clean taste that make you feel like drinking another glass immediately.

Starting the week with a pleasant wine can satisfy both your palate and your mood. Today it’s Azienda Agricola Biologica Adamo’s turn, a Sicilian winery, with the Sauvignon Costa dell'Ape - Azienda Agricola Biologica Adamo a pleasant, natural and direct Sicilian Organic wine. The characteristic tomato leaf aroma of the Sauvignon is intense and present without being excessive. Initially floral and peach tastes, while in the finale the typical wine variety taste returns with a good length. Great price performance.

Passionates of cooking, of authentic, high quality, healthy and ethically sustainable food certainly have already known and tasted Acquerello - Carnaroli Rice. A story that is born in the 15th century, from a simple hostel for pilgrims in Colombara, in the province of Vercelli, a territory that has always been located to rice cultivation. What really makes Acquerello rice unique? the main factors are three; the helix processing, a complex but low invasive method, that allows the perfect cleaning of the grain however preserving every grain integrity at the same time. The one year aging of this Italian rice in silos helps the stabilization of the starches, so that they don’t scatter during the cooking, helping the absorption of condiment too. Lastly, but fundamental, the reintegration of the rice gemma, that is to say the part endowed with the best nutrients, which is normally separated from the grain. Acquerello, due to many years of research, has found a method to reintegrate it, obtaining the taste of carnaroli rice combined with the nutritional value of raw rice.

Some classics of the gastronomy are doomed to remain in the cooking history, leaving an indelible mark. They may certainly be reinterpreted, or presented in different versions, but the real secret are the tastes they’re made up of. We can insert in this field the risotto alla milanese with ossobuco, a recipe symbol of the Lombardy region capital whose flavors are shaped in a perfect harmony of which we’re giving you our version: starting from a goof meat broth that exalts the delicacy of Acquerello - Carnaroli Rice and saffron (Saffron pistils Principato di Lucedio), the full and enveloping taste of the ossobuco and the marrow, cooked with some thinly chopped anchovy fillets that add sapidity, contrasted by the Sicilian lemons from Ribera zest (true secret touch of this recipe, for our palate). Finally creamed with some icy Butter - Beppino Occelli and Parmigiano Reggiano Vacche Rosse (milk from the red cow) 30 months.
Fotografia caricata da OIP
The balance between flavors and the high quality products are the means through which bringing your dishes at high levels. Apparently simple recipes can hide pleasant surprises too, stimulating mind and palate, as it happens for this risotto with anchovies, toasted hazelnuts and Sicilian lemon zest. The base is the Baldo Rice Principato di Lucedio, by an organic rice producer and the most ancient in Italy too, the Sicilian anchovy filets - La Bottarga di Tonno Group, a company located in the province of Trapani that brings the tastes of the Sicilian sea directly on your table.
