The evolution of a wine is what makes it unique, always ready to give our palate new sensations, renew, this is what IL MUSMECI Etna doc rosso 2010 - Tenuta di Fessina has transmitted us, an Etna wine that in our opinion has not only keep good but also improved with the passing of time. Nine years after the harvest (and seven from the bottling) it needs certainly breathing some minutes, so it has be opened 15 minutes before drinking it at least. The perfumes have evolved from fruity to tertiary with hydrocarbons notes and lightly sulphur. At the palate the minerality is strong keeping it fresh despite the years have passed, with tastes that maintain the direction of the tertiaries as it already happened to the olfaction of this Sicilian wine by Tenuta di Fessina.

When we talk about Sicilian wines one of the first associations that we think of is Nero d’Avola, a vineyard arrived from Greece more than two thousand years ago, finding in the island its ideal habitat. As many of the southern Italy wines at the beginning it wasn’t correctly enhanced, mostly proposed as a blend wine, in the last decades the progressive turn to a qualitative production instead of the quantitative one has highlighted its personal and interesting characteristics, bringing it among the most valuable Sicilian red wines. Perciata - Nero D'avola IGP Terre Siciliane Da Agricoltura Biologica - Az. Agricola Biologica Adamo, is a pure Nero d’Avola endowed with a strictly typical connotation, in this case the refinement in steel ( which requires a more consume compared with the barrique one) exalts the fruity aromas of black cherries, berries, with a pleasant acidity that leans the alcoholic structure typical of the wine variety.

The Chardonnay is one of the most interpreted wine variety throughout the world, a wine spread most of the area of the planet, of which it is possible to find many different versions depending on the ground, the clime, the methods in vineyard and winery. The Sicilian winery Mandrarossa proposes a variant that conciliates the internationality and the island peculiarities, it is a chardonnay more aromatic and fresher than the average, moreover endowed with a great alcoholic structure. The main aromas are floral and citrusy, while at the palate the citrus tastes stand out again sided by a minerality that gives body and persistency for a great balance in the final result.

Today it’s Azienda Agricola Biologica Adamo’s turn, a Sicilian winery, with the Sauvignon Costa dell'Ape - Azienda Agricola Biologica Adamo a pleasant, natural and direct Sicilian Organic wine. The characteristic tomato leaf aroma of the Sauvignon is intense and present without being excessive. Initially floral and peach tastes, while in the finale the typical wine variety taste returns with a good length. Great price performance.

Cartagho Nero d'Avola - Mandrarossa is a Sicilian wine that doesn’t leave indifferent, starting from the name, deriving from the historical Carthage. A city, or better a population that in the ancient times widely influenced the cultural development of Sicily. Indeed, to underline the historical to the territory, the wine is a pure Nero d’Avola, which is one of the Sicilian wine varieties par excellence. In the past it was seen as a blended wine, with the passing of time it has shown more and more potential, personal and pleasant shades when in selective or careful wine making conditions. Cartagho Mandrarossa has been awarded with three glasses by gambero rosso, a further testament of the quality offered by the Sicilian winery. Intense red ruby color, the 12 months of barrique exalt the characteristics that the Nero d’Avola acquires during the refinement: mature fruit and spices aromas, while at the palate the 14% alcoholic volume are perfectly integrated in the aromatic range that goes from the vanilla to an almost floral note (very uncommon), maintaining a well velvety and direct tannin structure.

Wine and culture have always been strictly linked, indeed the enology of a territory is the expression of the same and its inhabitants, becoming automatically a heritage. A partnership that is well represented by Tenute Orestiadi, a wine cellar born in Gibellina, a village in Trapani, where a local viticulturists has established a collaboration with Fondazione Orestiadi, an important cultural institution. This is how is born a company with mission of promoting the territory identity through the Sicilian wine varieties, underlining the meeting between wine and art. As a consequence the production is oriented towards the enhancement of Sicilian typical wines as Nero D’Avola, Perricone, Frappato, Zibibbo, Grillo and so on. Recently the PERRICONE TENUTE ORESTIADI and the Frappato Tenute Orestiadi have been rewarded with the two glass Gambero Rosso, moreover the AIS (Association Italian Sommellier) has inserted in the Vitae 2019 guide the FRAPPATO TENUTE ORESTIADI, whom after the wine tasting have been attributed three vines (among 85 and 88 points out of 100) proving to be a great wine at an affordable price.

It’s never the wrong moment for a new wine tasting, yesterday it was Mandrarossa turn. A Sicilian wine cellar with vineyards sprinkled in the southern area of Sicily, precisely in Menfi, in the province of Agrigento. It is an area endowed with a constant sun exposure and particular environmental conditions: the vineyards directly overlook the sea, absorbing both its air and ground properties, from the moment that the soil is partly sandy. We tried a local monovarietal, the COSTADUNE GRECANICO - Mandrarossa, a typical Sicilian wine. The color is straw yellow with greenish glares, it immediately stands out flower perfumes, reached by citrus aromas and a light apricot fragrance. The proximity to the sea gives a pleasant minerality , accompanied by citrus notes and an almond finale confirming its freshness and quaffable.

It is known that Marsala was born in Sicily nearly as a chance, with the adding of some spirit to the typical local Sicilian wine by an English merchant to preserve it better. The result was so good that it has become a stable presence at the English royal court also nowadays. If you are a true Marsala lover Marsala Superiore Riserva AEGUSA Florio is a sacred name, indeed with 97/100 points it is part of the top 20 Extraordinary Wines of the world of Wine Advocate’s chart. The very long aging in Florio cellars gives this wine an outstanding depth of flavors and shades, as the mature fruits, the multiple spices like licorice, the persistent and long minerality and an incredible fumè honey note. In our catalogue you can find so many different vintages of this Sicilian marsala, from the youngest 2001 up to the 1941, a 77 year old wine that any wine lover would do anything to taste.

Adamo is an historical name in the Sicilian wine background. At the beginning of 20th century Figli Adamo was one of the most high standing Sicilian companies in the field, the wine cellar even had its own train line due to the huge request and the success of the high quality Sicilian wines produced. Unfortunately the familiar contrasts led to the closure of the activity at the end of the 80s, until Vincenzo Adamo, raised in the middle of the vineyards and endowed with a natural passion for the wine universe, deals with the relaunch of the company funding Adamobio. The production includes only organic wines, cultivating some international vine varieties but strongly oriented towards the development of local Sicilian grape varieties. The trend is not producing only blends, but many pure varietal wines too, in order to convey the most authentic expression of the vine variety in that precise territory.

The Etna is nowadays considered a competed and desired destination among the wine producers. Something that may look contradictory, due to the implicit challenges and difficulties that involves the morphology of the territory in relation to the cultivation of grapes and then the transformation in Etna doc. But this exactly the main reason: the distinctiveness of this territory, the clime and its obstacles give the Etna wines unique characteristics, which seem in a perfect balance with the territory. And this is exactly what we felt tasting the Sicilian wine PASSOROSSO ETNA - PASSOPISCIARO, an Etna rosso doc, produced by wine cellar Passopisciaro rewarded by slow wine 2018, endowed with an intense red ruby color. The nose expresses intense red fruit sensations, while the palate is elegantly mineral, with a velvety tannin due to the 18 months of barrique.

Sicily is historically a territory particularly suitable for the wine production, thanks to the great climatic and geological conditions. Moreover the marked biodiversity has favored the development of many different local vine varieties, among which the Zibibbo is one of the most well known. We've found in LIGHEA BIANCO DONNAFUGATA 2014 a very good Sicilian wine, lively golden yellow coloured, on the olfactory side the Mediterranean notes as almond, floral and apricot are well exalted, while at the palate a balanced saltiness stands out with a delicate citrus note, leaving a final really good taste in your mouth. Ideal pairing with all the fish based dishes, from the cruditè, to first courses and fry fish.
