History
1972: Paola Rovetta moves with her family to Franciacorta, in Bornato, and starts the production of Monte Rossa wines with a pioneer spirit.
1982:10 years have passed and her passion has turned into a real profession, Emanuele Rabotti backs up his parents to lead the Company. The Cave is built up.
1986: The cover of Wine Spectator magazine is dedicated to Paola Rovetta: Monte Rossa lands in America.
1990: : is the year of “CONSORZIO DI FRANCIACORTA” foundation. It is a Union to protect wines from Franciacorta and Paolo Rabotti is its first President. He, with some other foundation members, outlines the guidelines that will lead Franciacorta wines to the conquest of the D.O.C.G denomination.
1992: Monte Rossa is 20 years old : this event is celebrated by the first introduction of the new wine that will become the Cult Product of Monte Rossa Maison : The Cabochon. The jeweler Buccellati expressly creates a very prestigious silver label for its bottle; Frank Sinatra and his wife, Barbara, will be the “good parents” of this event and will receive the First Bottle of Cabochon by the hands of Emanuele Rabotti directly, during the party in their Villa in Palm Desert.
1998: the “1993 Cabochon” by Monte Rossa wins its first “3 Bicchieri” Award.
2001: Monte Rossa produces over than 200.000 bottles. 2002: Monte Rossa, the only Company in Franciacorta to produce Franciacorta sparkling wines exclusively, inaugurates the new cellar ; it is built up on three different levels allowing the “based on gravity” production, thus respecting the wine in a very rigorously way. It is a very advanced cellar where “Enolift” , the wine lifter , shows up.
2004: “…the “99 Brut Cabochon” by Emanuele Rabotti is the best Classic method wine tasted this year and it is a great representative wine not only for Franciacorta but for all the Italian sparkling wines.: the “VINI D’ITALIA 2004 “guide has described the CABOCHON by these wonderful words crowning it as the best Italian sparkling wine of the year.
2005: Monte Rossa enlarges the vineyards control to more than 70 hectares; this will allow to further increase the quality standard of Monte Rossa wines.
2008: is the year of Awards, Cabochon 2003 receives the Bibenda Duemilavini Award..
