The Red Wine Oscar goes to Sassicaia

07/06/2013 - The award for "Best Red Wine" this year goes to the Bolgheri Sassicaia 2009 of Tenuta San Guido. This recognition was awarded by the Italian Sommelier Union (Associazione Italiana Sommelier) in Rome.

Puglia is also this year, the region of origin of the best rosé wines. The first prize goes to the Five Roses Anniversario 2011 by Leone de Castris.

The category of Best Spumante has two winners: Franciacorta Gran Cuvée Brut 2007 Bellavista Gran Cuvée and XXI Secolo 2007 Cantine D'Arapri.

Franz Haas has produced the best sweet wine with the Alto Adige moscato Rosa 2010.

The best wine in the category "Best value for money" is the Franciacorta Cuvée Prestige Ca' del Bosco and the best winery is Feudi di San Gregorio.
