Can a "normal" white wine as the Trebbiano be voted the best wine in Italy? Of course, if the bottles contain the legends of the Valentini family. An international jury has awarded the Trebbiano the first place in the ranking of the 50 best Italian wines.
The ranking was made by famous sommeliers and wine critics such as Luca Gardini Andrea Grigraffini together.
The winner, Francesco Valentini, surprises, because he would rather talk about the fate of his lands, as of the wine itself. He is a "Zen master among winemakers" who believes little in organic wines and biodynamic wines and thinks of wine more as "liquid sunshine, tamed fire" and refers more to the climate than the moon phases.
"I'm a craftsman," says Francesco "I biuild my work on the raw materials and my wine contains no chemical additives and I don't like excessive controls and I use only natural yeast."
Mr. Valentini is so demanding that he sometimes doesn't sale whole vintages.
"Some colleagues praise their wine every year as the best vintage of all times. But is it not possible to have a good vintage every year."
In this way, the legendary white Trebbiano wine won the first place on the podium.
