A high quality white wine Pinot Grigio is probably the ambassador of the DOC recognition of quality peculiar to Trentino wines. It comes from the French Pinot Gris grape brought into Trentino from Germany at the beginning of the 20th century and it was originally called “Ruländer”, as in German. Pinot Grigio has found its ideal habitat in the Trentino region with its good ventilation, ideal for preserving the grape in excellent condition right up until the harvest. Trentino is now the biggest area of production of this grape in Italy.
