Manufacturer: Conti D'Arco
Müller Thurgau Trentino DOC
The Conti d’Arco range includes a number of DOC wines from Trentino, selected from the most acclaimed zones of the region by the oenologists of Gruppo Italiano Vini who oversee every stage of the production process: from the vineyard to the bottle. The name comes from the noble family who owns the medieval castle which, from the rock of Arco, dominates the vineyards of the impressive valley between Lake Garda and the Brenta Dolomites.
The Müller-Thurgau Trentino DOC Conti d’Arco is made 100% from the grape variety of the same name, a cross between riesling renano and silvaner produced in 1882 by the Swiss ampelographer Hermann Müller-Thurgau, for years the director of the celebrated Ortifrutticolo Institute of Geisenheim, in Germany. It is an elegant white wine, with a good backbone of acidity and a pronounced varietal aroma.
Grapes: 100% müller-thurgau (riesling renanoxsilvaner).
Vineyard: selected parcels on the hills (220-240 metres altitude) along the Valley of the Adige, trained by the pergola trentina system on morainic-glacial terrain with clay and limestone mixed with gravel. The yield of grapes per hectare is 120 quintals.
Vinification: the grapes, picked towards the middle of September, are vinified partly by the white wine method and partly with a short cold maceration of the skins in the must to give greater richness to the bouquet and to the taste; after cold settling the fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature (16°-18°C) with selected yeasts; the new wine develops in small steel tanks before it is sterile bottled.
Wine: bright, vivid gold-green colour; intense bouquet, with a fine fragrance of roses, musk and fresh fruit (apples, peaches, apricots, pears); dry, savoury, clean flavour with a pleasantly lingering well-defined and elegant, fruity and aromatic aftertaste.
Optimum keeping: 1-2 years in bottles stored horizontally in cool, dark conditions.
Food matches: hors d’oeuvres, delicate first courses, seafood, fish, and cold white meats: it is also excellent as an aperitif.
Serving temperature: 10°C.
