Teroldego Rotaliano DOC
The Conti d’Arco range includes a number of DOC wines from Trentino, selected from the most acclaimed zones of the region by the oenologists of Gruppo Italiano Vini who oversee every stage of the production process: from the vineyard to the bottle. The name comes from the noble family who owns the medieval castle which, from the rock of Arco, dominates the vineyards of the impressive valley between Lake Garda and the Brenta Dolomites.
The teroldego is a grape variety probably indigenous to the Piana Rotaliana, in Trentino; it produces an elegant and very well balanced red wine.
Grapes: 100% teroldego.
Vineyard: selected parcels in the Piana Rotaliana, the area between the Adige river and its tributary, the Noce, in the communes of Mezzocorona and Mezzolombardo; the vines are trained by the pergola trentina system on well exposed terrain of alluvial origin, rich in gravel; the yield of grapes per hectare is about 120 quintals.
Vinification: the ripe grapes, picked at the end of October, are vinified by the red wine method, with 7-8 days maceration and frequent remontages; the fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature (26°-28°C); the new wine develops only in small steel tanks, to keep the
varietal aromas unchanged.
Wine: dark, crimson red colour, with violet tints; intense bouquet of raspberries, blackcurrants and ripe apples with a slight hint of wood smoke; dry, clean and savoury, balanced flavour with a distinctive, pleasantly lingering aftertaste of fruits of the forest.
Optimum keeping: 3 years in bottles stored horizontally in cool, dark conditions.
Food matches: roast or grilled meats, lamb, kid and mature cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16°-18°C
