Spätlese trocken has a yellow label symbolizing when the berries are completely yellow and fully ripe at the steep slope Niederberg-Helden site.
The Spätlese is harvested late, as the name suggests, towards the end of the harvest. After one or even several pre-harvest passes, the main harvest begins at the upper Niederberg-Helden site. It is steep and the sun falls on the mountain. Here we are working on steep slopes of up to 70% incline that descend south to the Moselle River. The boxes slide with us across the slate floor from one post to another, supported by the knees of the collectors. The boxes contain only golden yellow Riesling grapes, from which the best dry Riesling is made, the Spätlese.
