The sunny green hills of the Collio, absolutely one of the best environments for vine growing and beneficially influenced by the proximity of the Adriatic Sea and the protection of the Julian Alps against the cold northern winds, are the keepers of Marco Scolaris and his family's long heritage and commitment to viticulture.
The Scolaris Winery is today a modern and innovative company that has its deep roots in the past and is strongly projected towards the future. Marco Scolaris is able to skilfully blend his ancient family tradition with the most cutting-edge technology and utmost attention to the smallest details: from the vineyards down to the winery, pursuing perfection in each bottle.
The company owned by Marco Scolaris was one of the first to produce and trade the white and red wines typical of this particular area of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The hills stretching from the west of Gorizia are well known for the excellent quality, freshness and aptitude to ageing of its grape varieties. The Scolaris Winery has an ancient heritage and long tradition that started in San Lorenzo Isontino (Gorizia) back in 1924. Marco's grandfather, Giovanni Scolaris, established his first little winery and started trading his wine by the barrel, transporting it on a horse-driven cart.
