TO ENJOY IT AT THE BEST
Service temp
16-18 ° C
When to open
To enjoy it at its best, we advise you to let the wine 'breathe' at least 15-30 minutes before serving
Glass
Medium opening glass
Medium opening glass
Ideal for light and medium-bodied red wines, which do not need oxygenation to open. The opening slightly narrower than the body of the glass favors the concentration of aromas towards the nose, enhancing the perception of aromas and limiting their dispersion
When to drink
Evolves
Perfect wine to drink immediately, but can evolve well if kept in the cellar
You can leave it to rest in the cellar for 2-3 years
DESCRIPTION OF THE REFOSCO DAL PEDUNCOLO ROSSO
Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso Castelvecchio is a red wine from the Gorizia Karst, a territory that has always been suited to quality viticulture. A label that presents the typical warmth that Refosco usually brings to tasting, in which the ethereal background is also appreciated, which gradually becomes more important to the nose. A bottle in which character and personality abound, in which the story of an ancient and important native Friulian grape is told.
Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso wine is made by the Castelvecchio winery starting from those vineyards included in the Karst Natural Park. We are in a terroir rich in limestone and red earth, where minerals abound; the Bora wind blows between the rows, responsible for a climate strongly characterized by the temperature variations between day and night. The fermentation of the must occurs spontaneously in stainless steel tanks thanks to the presence of indigenous yeasts, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then transferred into barriques and large French oak barrels for the refinement phase, lasting a total of 24 months, and before being put on the market there is a further six months of aging carried out directly in glass.
Castelvecchio's Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso reveals itself to the eye with a typically ruby color, characterized by a profound impenetrability. The small forest fruit, both red and black, opens on the nose with intense notes, while on the finish there are also more ethereal, nuanced references. Soft and warm in the mouth, with a nice persistence, in which a sip with a slightly bitter tone develops. A label that has its say on the table with roasts and game, generally enhancing the cuisine of Friuli.
Deep ruby red color
Scent Small wild strawberries, ripe raspberry, blackberry and blueberry, ethereal notes
Taste Velvety, warm, persistent with spicy overtones, full-bodied
