The neighboring estate of Sassicaia, Grattamacco has built a reputation on its finessed Super Tuscan. The 2009 Grattamacco Bolgheri Rosso Superiore, the product of a warm vintage, offers a more opulent side to the usually reticent wine, and what we like about the vintage is its approachability now. This bolder, more open-knit interpretation is packed with dense red and black fruit, licorice, and spice, all complemented with a herbaceous note. Balanced from its aromatic beginning to its lingering, satisfying end, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese offers zesty acidity, silky tannins and a seriously nice mouth-feel.
