Manufacturer: Conti D'Arco
Müller Thurgau
Vino frizzante delle Venezie IGT
The Conti d’Arco range includes a number of wines selected from the most acclaimed zones of the Trentino region by the oenologists of Gruppo Italiano Vini who oversee every stage of the production process: from the vineyard to the bottle. The name comes from the noble family who owns the medieval castle which, from the rock of Arco, dominates the vineyards of the impressive valley between Lake Garda and the Brenta Dolomites. The making of this frizzante wine starts with must (and not with wine) stored until the market requires it, to ensure maximum freshness and fragrance; as if the vintage were to happen several times a year.
Grapes: 100% Müller-Thurgau ( a cross fertilization of riesling and silvaner produced by the Swiss ampelographer Hermann Müller-Thurgau).
Vineyard: selected parcels north of Mezzocorona, along the Valley of the Adige, at 220-240 metres altitude: the vines are trained by the pergola trentina system on well exposed ground, mainly clay, rich in limestone and with some marl; the yield of grapes is 120 quintals per hectare.
Vinification: the grapes, picked during the first half of September, are vinified by the white wine method; the must, clarified by cold settling, is only partly fermented; then the must-wine is stored in hermetically sealed steel tanks, at a low temperature. The secondary fermentation only takes place when the market requires it: concentrated grape sugar and selected yeasts are added, and the fermentation starts again in small closed tanks for two
months. The naturally frizzante wine (2.5 atmospheres of pressure) is sterile bottled (isobaric bottling) and is immediately released onto the market.
Wine: lively white foam; brisk effervescence; pale gold colour with green tints; intense, aromatic bouquet with a distinctive fragrance of musk, roses and ripe fruit (peaches, apples, apricots); soft, gently sparkling, light and fresh flavour with an attractive, fruity, lingering aftertaste.
Optimum keeping: 1 year in bottles stored horizontally in cool, dark conditions.
Food matches: with all light food based on vegetables, fish or meat.
Serving temperature: 8°C
