Alcamo is one of the main Sicilian centers for the production of wines. At the Bianco d'Alcamo in 1972 the D.O.C. which has recently been extended to red, rosé and sparkling wines. Bianco d'Alcamo has a pale straw yellow color with greenish reflections, a dry, fresh taste with a fruity scent, a delicate smell and an alcohol content of between 11.5 and 13.5 °.
The territory of the Alcamo D.O.C., strongly characterized by the extraordinary geometry of the "espalier or a marquee" vineyards, is one of the most renowned territories in Italy for the production of wines. In particular, the "Bianco d'Alcamo" is one of the finest and most appreciated wines, which has been recognized as the "Denomination of Controlled Origin" in 1972. Its production area falls in selected areas of the provinces of Trapani (the province more vine than Italy) and Palermo; the basic vine is the common and / or glossy white Catarratto, with the possible addition of Damaschino, Grecanico and Trebbiano.
