Colour

Deep ruby red, almost opaque, with garnet reflections. Consistent.

Bouquet

Complex, ripe dark fruits (blackberry, cassis), sweet spices, cedar, tobacco, a balsamic touch and fynbos hints.

Taste

Full-bodied, rich, velvety yet present tannins. Concentration of dark fruit, spicy and toasted notes. Long, persistent and elegant finish.

14.5% Vol.

Type of glass

Large Bordeaux glass or 'balloon' type for important red wines, to promote oxygenation.

Pairings

Roasted or braised red meats, game (wild boar, venison), aged cheeses and rich mushroom or truffle dishes.

Refinement

In new French oak barrels for 18-24 months. Followed by bottle aging. Great aging potential, 10-15+ years.

Vinification

Manual selection of grapes from the best vineyards. Fermentation in open tanks/stainless steel with extended maceration. Malolactic fermentation.
